'X Factor': Judges left horrified as boys category hopeful falls off the stage
Sunday night’s episode of X Factor saw judges Louis Tomlinson, Robbie Williams and wife-of-eight-years, Ayda Field, horrified after a contestant took a tumble off the stage mid-performance.
20-year-old Tommy Ludford took too many steps back during his turn to earn his chair in the six chair challenge as he was performing his own original song, Dipping Biscuits.
Dermot O’Leary rushed from his backstage spot, along with the talent show’s crew to make sure Ludford was OK. Ludford emerged with a raised arm of triumph to show the judges and the shocked audience he was unharmed.
Viewers on Twitter weren’t very sympathetic to his unfortunate fall. They even went as far as to compare the fall to Gemma Collin’s tumble through the trap door at the 2017 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards.
What the hell. That was dramatic. #XFactor

The boy’s category mentor, One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, also made his way onto the stage to make sure Ludford could carry on and offered a hug and a few words of encouragement. Tomlinson opted to give Ludford a chair.
The weekend has seen the judges make a few tough decisions leading to tears, tantrums and disappointments not just for the hopeful contestants but for Judge Ayda Field too. Field got her first taste of the cutthroat business of the show.
After Field commented “This one is really hard for me” after having trouble rejecting those in the overs category. Husband Robbie Williams was forced into comforting his distraught wife after making the decision to give the 30-year-old Reading cleaner, Louise Setara a spot on the six chairs and having to oust a previously successful contestant.
Next Saturday, the six chair challenge continues, as Judges Simon Cowell, Louis Tomlinson, Ayda Field and Robbie Williams must decide on the final six acts in each category to take through to Sunday’s first trip to the judge’s houses.
X Factor continues Saturday at 8:35pm
