X Factor Reject Tricks Internet With Fake Photo Of Harry Styles With Short Hair

Unless you’ve spent the weekend hiding under a rock, you’re probably aware that on Friday night One Direction star Harry Styles shocked his fans by cutting off his famous long hair for charity.

The star simply shared a photo of his hand holding up the chopped locks with the caption “Whoops” and a link to the Little Princess Trust, an organisation who make donated hair into wigs for children who have lost theirs to cancer.

Now the world has been waiting with bated breath to see the first look of Harry without his tumbling curls, and yesterday an X Factor reject sent the Internet into a tizzy after pranking Twitter with a fake pic of the star.

But to be honest, it didn’t really look anything like the singer…

Ellis Lacy used Snapchat’s faceswap feature to superimpose Harry’s face over his own, he then took to Twitter to share the screenshot with the caption: “Harry looks cool now he cut his hair” before uploading a video that he said was from the star.

Speaking with Harry’s features over his own, Ellis said: “Hi everyone it’s Harry, thanks everyone for liking my new haircut and thanks Ellis Lacy for getting my photo out there, saves me a lot of work, man.”

Whilst many fans were dubious and couldn’t help but notice that Harry’s entire face shape had seemingly “changed” after cutting his hair, others were fully convinced - with Geordie Shore’s Vicky Pattison even sharing the snap on Instagram to gush over Harry’s new look.

Posting the pic, Vicky wrote: “#SortSunday…. I mean… Who knew this was hiding under all that hair!!! Is this even @harrystyles?!! What you’s all saying?!”

Hmm, awkward…

Tellingly, Ellis had already posted the same photo to his Twitter on April 28th - writing that he’d faceswapped with the star on Snapchat, so it didn’t take long for the truth to come out and Ellis admitted that he never thought the prank would become so big, telling The Sun: “I just uploaded it as bit of a laugh, I never expected it to blow up so quickly.

"It’s very flattering that some people have believed it, Harry’s a good looking lad. It seems to have caused bit of a divide with One Direction fans, some want it to be real whilst others are pointing out all my flaws!”

Ellis himself is an aspiring singer and auditioned for The X Factor last year, but he has most recently made a name for himself by stripping off to demonstrate how to use penis pumps online.

Definitely one of the most interesting post-X Factor careers, eh?
