X Factor winner Louisa Johnson teases new album

Last year’s X Factor winner Louisa Johnson has shared a few teasers about what we can expect from her upcoming debut album, promising some surprises and various genres.

The singer – who was featured on Clean Bandit’s hit single Tears – has been working on her eclectic first album, which will be released before the end of the year, and we cannot wait.

Thankfully (since we’re an impatient bunch) Louisa has opened up about her new music during a recent interview, explaining how a diverse mix of musical influences will be reflected on her record.

Speaking to Wonderland Magazine, the 18-year-old revealed: “It’s been quite difficult to go straight from the show to the studio, but I just want to share my music.

“For me, my music is like a diary: it’s very real and honest, and I like to be open. It’s not one kind of genre. I love Caribbean-vibe music, Beyoncé, old school R&B and everything from the ‘90s.

“I think people are going to be surprised when they hear it!” she added, “It’s really hard to explain, it’s just all about the vibe…”

Despite being the X Factor’s youngest winner, Louisa – who was mentored by Rita Ora on the talent show – has been able to stay “strong mentally” under the pressure of newfound fame.

Crediting her mentor and show boss Simon Cowell for their support, she said: “I really admire Simon. It’s definitely scary, the fame that comes with X Factor, but I’m doing everything I’ve always dreamed about.

“Him and Rita have helped me so much. Simon is so supportive and it’s really great,” she continued. “I think Rita inspired me the most, because she’s young too and we had so many ideas together.

“She helped me a lot. She always told me to be myself, to remain strong mentally. I think it’s the most important advice anyone can give you.”

On the subject of important advice, we suggest that you continue to listen to Tears on repeat because Louisa’s new album isn’t expected to land until November 18, according to Amazon’s placeholder. Eek – watch this space!
