Xbox has responded to reports that many of its exclusive games might be coming to PlayStation 5.

The past few days have seen rumours that Starfield, the Gears of War series, and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Great Circle are being considered for Sony's console.

Hi-Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves have also been mentioned as games that might go multiplatform in the future.

Various publications reported that Microsoft would be detailing their strategy going forwards towards the end of the month.

The reports and speculation have led to intense discussion online, leading to Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer to respond and reveal that a "business update event" is imminent.

"We're listening and we hear you," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

"We've been planning a business update event for next week, where we look forward to sharing more details with you about our vision for the future of Xbox. Stay tuned."

Last May, Spencer discussed Xbox's vision while saying that there were no plans for Microsoft to try and 'out-console' Sony or Nintendo.

"It's play the games you want, with the people you want, anywhere you want," he said at the time.

"We want Xbox to be something that people who buy our consoles can feel like they're a member of, [and if they're] playing on PC or playing on cloud, they feel like they're full members of our ecosystem."

Last month, Microsoft laid off around 1,900 people at Activision Blizzard and Xbox following the completion of its acquisition of Activision Blizzard King for $69 billion.

Xbox also recently held a Developer Direct show, where — in addition to MachineGames' Indiana Jones game — it showed off games including Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Avowed.
