Yeovil Town were officially crowned winners of the National League South after a dominant 2-0 victory over Truro City tonight (April 11). The Glovers went into the game needing to avoid defeat at the Tiger Turf Stadium, in Gloucester, to be named champions.

Rhys Murphy opened the scoring with a header after 12 minutes before Alex Fisher finished the job from close range midway through the second half. The victory means Mark Cooper’s men have the league wrapped up with three games to spare.

It is Yeovil's first promotion since 2013 when the club beat Brentford - who are now a Premier League side - in the League One play-off final. The Somerset outfit ran out 2-1 winners on the day and gained promotion to the Championship.

Manager Cooper previously said that the Glovers should be in League Two as a minimum. He also said that his side can "enjoy everything that comes with (winning the league) when it is done.”
