New Yorkers protested against gun violence in Times Square on Thursday, May 26, after a gunman entered an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, and killed 21 people.

Footage by Ben Von Klemperer shows people dressed in white veils holding photographs of the victims of the Uvalde shooting.

At least 19 elementary students and two teachers were killed in the Uvalde shooting on Tuesday. Police identified the suspect as an 18-year-old Uvalde resident who authorities said was shot and killed by law enforcement. Credit: Ben Von Klemperer via Storyful

- To stand with the families, of Uvalde, Texas. Just like last week, we were here to stand with the families of Buffalo, New York. Just like we have been here to stand for families and cities across this country whenever there is an attack that kills tens or scores of people in this country.

And we will keep coming back until the people that we elect and give power to in our Congress finally do something about this scourge of gun violence that kills over 40,000 people every year. Forty-five thousand people murdered or self-harmed, self-killed in suicides in the year 2021.
