A ROAD between West Marton and Thornton-in-Craven/Barnoldswick which closed last week due to a burst water pipe is not due to reopen until Saturday (July 6) says Yorkshire Water.

The water company has also asked motorists not to ignore the road closed signs at either end of Thornton Road.

A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: "Our teams have repaired a burst water main. Unfortunately, the burst caused some consequential damage to the road surface which needs to be reinstated before it is safe to reopen.

"Our teams are scheduled to complete the road repairs on Friday and we expect the road to reopen on Saturday. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and would urge road users not to ignore the closure and barriers as they are in place to keep everyone safe."
