You’ll Never Guess Who’s Up For Replacing Chris Evans On Top Gear

Ever since Chris Evans quit Top Gear, a whole host of replacements have been suggested – with James Martin emerging as the favourite – but now another brave soul has volunteered to take on the coveted role.

Happy Mondays man Shaun Ryder has revealed that he would “absolutely” accept an offer to host the new-look BBC motoring programme, even though he admits to knowing “f*** all about cars.”

Ryder, the man that knows nothing about cars but wants to host a show primarily about cars, told NME: “I can drive but that’s about it. I would have to rely on someone to throw the script at me and just say, ‘Go!’”

As convincing as that sounds, it’s unlikely that the 53-year-old singer will land the gig alongside Matt LeBlanc as he previously blasted the revamped programme after he joined Paddy McGuinnes on Stars In Their Cars.

“It’s Paddy show where we test cars and blast them off. F*** Top Gear, f*** Chris, f*** that **** who went to private school and that other **** Clarkson who got sacked from the BBC, I’ll knock him on his a***!” he said.

Meanwhile, BBC bosses are keen for Matt LeBlanc to remain in place and become the solo host of the series, confirming that Evans will not be replaced on the show.

“We have no immediate plans to replace Chris Evans and do not expect to do so going forward,” a spokesperson explained. “Series 24 starts filming in September.”
