Young woman sentenced for racially abusing man in shopping centre

A YOUNG woman has been sentenced for racially abusing a man in a shopping centre.

Georgia Fennell, 19, of north Kirklees, was sentenced for an offence of racially or religiously aggravated intentional harassment, alarm, or distress in words or writing at Leeds Magistrates' Court last Friday.

She pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing, on February 23.

Fennell abused a man at the White Rose Shopping Centre, in Leeds on February 17 last year.

The magistrates' said the offence was racially aggravated.

The 19-year-old was ordered to pay £100 in compensation to the victim.

She also must pay £85 in costs and a surcharge of £26 to fund victim services.

The court ordered this be deducted from her benefits.
