Youths charged after alleged serious assault on teen at East Kilbride bus stop

A 15-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after allegedly being seriously assaulted at a bus stop in East Kilbride.

It is claimed the teenager was at Greenhills Square at around 9.30pm on Tuesday when he was seriously assaulted.

Lanarkshire Live understands police taped off the area for several hours while investigations were carried out.

Two teenagers, aged 14 and 17, have been arrested and charged in relation to the incident and are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Two males, aged 14 and 17, have been arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault in the Greenhills Square area of East Kilbride around 9.30pm on Tuesday, 18 June, 2024.

“A 15-year-old male was taken to hospital for treatment.

“The males are due to appear in court at a later date.”
