We all need to use a plaster now and then.

From paper cuts to kitchen mishaps - it's easy to accidentally cut your finger on something sharp when you're not expecting it. However, sometimes applying a plaster to a wound can be a bit of a bother.

This is because they don't always fit correctly, or can easily peel off if not adhered properly. But these irritating plaster issues could actually be due to how you're applying them.

Little did you know, you've probably been sticking plasters on incorrectly for years, as there's a simple technique that ensures they go on perfectly and stay put.

Rachel Madell highlighted this clever life hack on TikTok, and it's blown people's minds, as the trick is a total game changer.

In the video, she takes a regular plaster and snips it with scissors on either side. She simply makes two cuts down to the middle of the plaster, making sure not to cut any of the white, cushioned part.

She then peels off the paper backing and places it onto her finger, but she doesn't wrap it around. Instead, she uses the sliced sections to create a criss-cross on her finger, and it works like a charm.

Not only does this hold the plaster securely in place, but it also provides more coverage. There's no excess plaster sticking out over the top, which often happens when you pop one on in a hurry.

This method is straightforward, hassle-free and gets the job done right. It's hard to believe so many people didn't know about it before.

Since Rachel shared the hack online, people have been utterly gobsmacked, with many eager to try it out themselves. One person responded: "I saved this video earlier today just in case I needed it some day. Thank you."

Even though Rachel's tip has amazed plenty of people, it turns out she was somewhat late in discovering this particular hack herself. In a caption on the video, she penned: "What would I do without the internet?"

Talk about an epiphany!
