Zac Efron has revealed the edgier original title of his upcoming Netflix romantic comedy with Nicole Kidman, which was later changed to the more family-friendly A Family Affair.

The High School Musical heartthrob confessed that the film's initial title had caught his attention for its boldness, even though it might have caused a stir.

Both Zac and Nicole are thrilled about their collaboration on this uplifting comedy, which also features Joey King from The Kissing Booth.

When discussing how they came to join the film, Zac and Nicole shared that they jumped at the opportunity after reading Carrie Solomon's script.

In a conversation with the Los Angeles Times, Nicole expressed her desire to switch gears, saying she wanted "to do something that is fun and funny and completely different" after a string of drama roles, reports the Mirror.

"I was like, 'Please, I'm begging to have some fun and to be considered for some sort of romantic comedy at some point,'" said Nicole, highlighting her eagerness for a change. "So, this came to me, and I was like, 'please, please, please.' Because I never get offered them. I never get considered."

Zac also felt an immediate connection to the characters as he read the screenplay, describing it as a "natural inroad".

He continued: "Then, of course, at that point Nicole was involved - and I dream of working with Nicole - and Joey was also in talks for It. That was just a dream scenario for a rom-com."

Zac spilled the beans regarding the film's original title, pondering, "Initially the script was called - can I say that?" His co-star Joey concurred he could, and Nicole confirmed the movie "had a different title".

Unveiling the mystery, Zac confessed: "It had a different title, which made it really exciting to read. It was called 'Motherf-.' When you get a script with such a title on the front, you're irresistibly drawn to reading it."

It appears that Netflix settled for a softer, more family-friendly title, albeit less punchy; they opted for A Family Affair, proving to be more marketable.
