Zelensky Impersonator Arrives in Poland After Escaping Kyiv

A man known for his impersonation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky documented his safe passage across the Polish border on March 12, after spending weeks sheltering in Kyiv.

In the footage, Umidjon Isaboev, known as ‘Umid’, is seen walking across the Shehyni border crossing with other Ukrainian families, where he is greeted by a slew of clothing and food donations and placed on a bus.

Isaboev was assisted in his evacuation by friends “Howard X”, a Kim Jong Un impersonator, and Slawomir, a “fake Putin” from Poland. Howard X told Storyful that Umid is now safe in Warsaw.

According to the Washington Post, Isaboev was initially recognized as a Zelensky look-a-like on a Moscow subway in 2019 and later shot to fame professionally imitating the Ukrainian actor-turned-president. Credit: Umidjon Isaboev via Storyful
