Zlatan Ibrahimovic has already Newcastle United exactly what they want to hear regarding Anthony Elanga.

The Magpies are said to have opened positive talks with Nottingham Forest as they face a race against time to balance their books regarding the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules. Midfielder Elliot Anderson may however have to head the other way, with Nuno Espirito Santo a fan of the 21-year-old.

Anderson's sale would also count as pure profit given the required fee needed to help the Magpies, and could also stand them in strong stead regarding further purchases. Elanga, who left Manchester United last summer, has impressed during his short spell at the City Ground so far.

"A great talent, we are proud and happy that he comes from Sweden," Ibrahimovic told SVT Nyheter in 2022 regarding Elanga's talents. "That he can represent Sweden now makes it even bigger. He [Elanga] has all the future ahead of him, and if he continues just as he has done, it looks positive. It’s just fighting, never being content, striving for more. How much he can develop depends on him."

Elanga rose through the ranks at Carrington with Manchester United but failed to impress upon Erik ten Hag's arrival in the summer of 2022. With minutes limited, the Red Devils opted to part ways with the talented winger and Nottingham Forest paid £15million for his services.

Newcastle are known to be in the market for a right-sided player and had sought out options across Europe but it remains to be seen whether Elanga's arrival would mark the end of the process or help them go back out into the market for further recruits this summer.
