Zoe Ball opens up about dealing with grief in the wake of Billy Yates’ death
Grief-stricken Zoe Ball has responded to fans following the tragic death of her boyfriend Billy Yates – and has opened up about how she is coping with the loss.
The 46-year-old took to Instagram last week to share a photo of a bright pink flower in her garden.
She captioned the image: “This beauty in my garden. Thinking of everyone dealing with grief and loss at this time.”
The radio presenter received countless kind comments from her supportive followers, who tried to reassure her that things would get better.
One person wrote: “You’re in my thoughts Zoe, take your time, be kind to yourself and remember that there’s no right or wrong way to do this, do what feels right.”
To which Zoe responded: “Your message has made me cry but happy tears. It is such a comfort to know it will get better. I feel blessed that my Friends and family and Billys friends and family are staying close. We will help each other through. Thank you for taking time to share. Truly means so much.”
Another fan shared their struggle over losing their mum at a young age, explaining: “I’m taking each day as it comes. Some days are ok and some are seriously hard to make it through. I think the healing process will be ongoing for the rest of my life. I’m never going to get over it, I’ll just learn how to live with it.”
To which Zoe said: “much love to you and your family,” followed by a series of black love hearts.
Zoe was left devastated when cameraman Billy was found dead in his Putney home on May 4, with it being confirmed that he killed himself.
A source said at the time: “Zoe is overcome with grief. She is completely and utterly devastated. Billy had made her happy again after the most horrendous year when her marriage broke down.
“This was completely out of the blue.
“She had no feeling that this was coming and is in total shock. As far as we know this occurred at his house in south London and it was friends who raised the alarm.
“She’s going to need a lot of time to grieve. This just feels so unfair because Zoe had finally found happiness with Billy and had so many exciting plans for their future.
“It’s devastating. There’s nothing else other than devastation today.”
Sources have claimed that Billy suffered with depression and on the same day as his death Zoe retweeted a message from the Samaritans, encouraging anyone going through a difficult or distressing time to call the charity.
Zoe and Billy started dating in February this year following the breakdown of Zoe’s marriage to Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim.
