Artist's Naked Flashmob Stunt Backfires As He's Left Standing Nude On Beach All Alone
An artist’s naked flash-mob stunt spectacularly backfired - after he was left standing in the nude on a beach all by himself.
Olaf Karlsen called on local residents in Kviljoodden, Norway, to join him in their birthday suits to greet a Norwegian TV station’s touring boat.
He wanted the so-called “Summer Boat” - which is broadcasting what it sees live on NRK as part of its “Slow TV” season - to capture the group in all its natural glory.
Karlsen even took out an advert in his local newspaper to drum up support.
But he was left bitterly disappointed when no-one showed up to join his “The Beach People” project - and he just stood in the buff on his tod.
“I was p***** off. I called everyone a coward on Saturday. I feel a bit dejected,” The Local reports him as saying.
“When things like this happen you don’t feel like thinking creatively or doing anything special at all,” he said.
“Even though I am angry and disappointed, I am through feeling depressed. I will continue, new ideas will come,” he added.
Karlsen is not the only Norwegian artist to have been left red-faced due to nakedness in recent months.
London-based Hilde Krohn Huse was left dangling in the nude from a tree for three-and-a-half hours after her installation unexpectedly went wrong.
She’d intended to film herself hanging in the nude from a rope in a Norwegian forest as part of a contemporary project.
But, after deciding to stop the camera rolling, she realised she was actually stuck.
She struggled to free herself from the rope, before a friend eventually heard her screaming for help and she was saved.
