Lorna Vickerage: Hunt For 'Abducted' Teen

A suspected child abductor is being hunted by police after he was seen with a 14-year-old girl who has been missing from her foster home since Monday.

Lorna Vickerage was seen in the Highfields area of Doncaster on Wednesday morning with 35-year-old convicted conman John Derek Bush.

A man and a woman told police they met the pair and that Bush had introduced Lorna to them as his daughter.

Officers believe they subsequently just missed the pair after forcing their way into a house, where they say they found items belonging to the pair, the TV on and the back door open.

Detective Chief Inspector Craig Robinson from South Yorkshire Police described Bush as manipulative and a liar.

He said Lorna was extremely vulnerable and Bush may have persuaded her to pretend to be his daughter.

"My concerns are: Why has he taken her and what's he doing with her?" he said.

"He's wanted for abduction of a child, he has no parental responsibility, and he has no legal reason to have Lorna with him," he added.

"Our emphasis is on locating her and getting her back safe and well."

According to the police, Bush is driving a silver Ford Mondeo, registration Y753 CSH, and an alert has been circulated to all ports and airports.

Mr Robinson told a news conference that Lorna has run away before for a few days at a time.

Writing on Facebook, Lorna's mother Christine, 36, said: "My baby plz come home darling we love u so much."

Alongside a picture of her daughter, she posted: "This is my gawgess lovin daughter if anyone as any idea were she could be would u plz contact me I just want her home safe thankyou.

"Come home my baby girl iam so worried plz just ring me we all love u so much."

Chris Pratt, director of the Children and Young People's Service, said: "The local authority has been working positively and proactively with this young person and is working closely with South Yorkshire Police, supporting them with their enquiries."

Bush was living in a caravan park in Askern in February this year when he appeared in court for fraud offences totalling thousands of pounds.

Sentencing him to 14 months in jail suspended for two years, the judge described Bush as a professional fraudster.

The court heard he had been in a relationship with a drug addict and had been homeless at the time of the offences.

Anyone with any information on their whereabouts is urged to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101.

:: Police have arrested a 35-year-old man from Askern, near Doncaster, in connection with the investigation but have stressed that he is not Bush.
