Pint-sized 'Westie' terrier Joey has become the 'big daddy' - after mating with a fully-grown Rottweiler twice his size.
The small, white Westland Highland Terrier hooked up with giant canine Zara just weeks after moving in with his new family.
And in what is thought to be one of the first ever cases, Zara gave birth to 11 adorable 'Wottie' cross-breed puppies.
Teresa Patterson, who owns both dogs, was left stunned to find the odd couple had mated and was completely unaware of their antics until the birth.
Joey, just one-year-old, played the role of a perfect father, taking each puppy away from four-year-old Zara and looking after his newborns.
Zara, who is more than twice the size of Joey, didn't seem interested in the puppies at first and left all the work to him.
Tragically, four of the Wotties didn’t survive and Teresa, from North Grimston, North Yorks., was left wondering what to do with the remaining seven 'attention-seeking' puppies.
She got in touch with the Yorkshire Coast Dog Rescue in Scarborough which set about finding homes for the three girls and four boys.
The charity put a post on its Facebook page headed ‘accidents can happen’ and appealing for new homes.
Teresa's sons Jonathan and Matthew have taken a puppy each and the remaining five have been rehomed by the charity.
Teresa, 50, an admin clerk, said: 'We got Joey in May and it must have happened straight away but we didn’t think it would have been possible.

'Zara didn’t know what to do and I just started screaming when the puppies started popping out.
'She delivered them on July 11 and then Joey did everything else. Zara wasn’t interested but Joey would clean them up and not let anyone else near them.
'I was completely shocked, I didn’t think nature would let this happen but at some point it did. The puppies have a lovely temperament like their parents. They are high maintenance as they want attention all the time.'
Each year the Kennel Club registers around 250,000 puppies across 212 breeds - with the organisation surprised about Zara and Joey’s offspring.
They said: 'We can never say it has never happened but this is the first time we’ve come across it.'
