Point Beak: Swans spotted SURFING off Australia's coast

In Australia it's not just surfers who love to catch a wave - as these swans showed.

The black birds were spotted floating on the waves at Kirra on Australia's Gold Coast.

Then, when a big wave approached, one of the swans decided to take full advantage by riding the wave - to the astonishment of onlookers.

One of the bird successfully caught a wave to shore, before paddling back out again to the same spot to have another go.

Seconds later a smaller group surfed in towards the beach.

Kelvin Mills, from Kirra, spotted the swans at the surf spot last week.

He told Australia's News 9: 'We've seen Mick Fanning and Kelly Slater [professional surfers], but not four black swans.'

The surfing session ends soon after the second run in as the swans fly away. Perhaps to find a better wave.
