Toronto Mayor Rob Ford In Drunken 'Kill' Rant

Footage of Toronto mayor Rob Ford issuing angry threats to "kill" has become the latest twist in an ongoing saga involving the embattled official.

The video, which has emerged two days after Mr Ford admitted he had smoked crack cocaine, shows him in the midst of a profanity-laced tirade.

He is seen pacing around a room, bumping into chairs and flailing about.

"I'm going to kill that ******* guy. I'm telling you it's first-degree murder," the mayor is heard saying.

"He dies or I die, brother ... But when he's down, I'll rip his ******* throat out. I'll poke his eyes out!" Mr Ford adds as he mimics the act with his arms.

The date and location of the video, which appears on the Toronto Star's website, is unknown and it is unclear who the target of Mr Ford's wrath is.

He told reporters moments after the video was posted online that he was "extremely, extremely inebriated" in it.

He said he made mistakes and added: "All I can do is reassure the people.

"When you are in that state ... I hope none of you have ever or will ever be in that state.

"It's extremely embarrassing. The whole world is going to see it."

The video is the latest mishap in a whirlwind week for Mr Ford, who on Tuesday admitted smoking crack in a "drunken stupor" about a year ago.

He continues to brush aside calls to resign or take a leave of absence.

In light of the video, Toronto City Councillor James Pasternak urged Mr Ford to make a "dignified exit".

"The video is very disturbing," he said. "It's very upsetting, it's very sad."

Mr Ford has been under pressure to quit since allegations surfaced months ago that he had been caught on video using a crack pipe.

He had repeatedly denied the claims until Tuesday's emotional news conference, when he came clean about his drug use but brushed off demands for him to quit.

Police have said they want to talk to Mr Ford about the video that purportedly shows the mayor smoking crack. Mr Ford claims he has not seen that video.

The mayor acknowledged he had a drinking problem for the first time on Sunday while on his weekly radio show.

He told listeners that he was "hammered" at a street festival in August and "out of control" drunk, carrying a half empty bottle of brandy around city hall after St Patrick's Day last year.

City Councilor Denzil Minnan-Wong said on Thursday he plans to amend a motion he has filed that would ask Mr Ford to take a leave of absence.

The amendment takes the unprecedented step of asking the province of Ontario to pass legislation to remove the mayor should he not agree to take a leave of absence.
