Video: World’s longest burp lasts 18.1 seconds

A man has been crowned world burping champion after a belch that lasted a staggering 18.1 seconds.
After guzzling down two gallons of Diet Coke and Mountain Dew to improve his delivery, New York pizza chef Tim Janus won the competition held in the Big Apple last week.

Officials from the World Burping Federation were pleased with all the contestants, but they were taken aback by Janus’s impressive performance – stating that his 18.1-second burp stands as the greatest burp of all time.

So what was the secret to his record-breaking feat? Speaking with DNAinfo, Janus explained: “I was just trying to condense all the air in my stomach and bring it to the surface. You just have to force every last bit of air up. It's beautiful, really."

Sebastian Rothschild, executive director of the World Burping Federation, reportedly said: “The goal of the WBF, based in Geneva, is to restore burping to a place of respectability in Western culture, and to remove the stigma that has attached itself to this practice during the past millennium.”
