It's that time of year again! Hollyoaks' annual autumn stunt is just around the corner and will see carnage at the local high school when Mac Nightingale causes a massive explosion during an after-hours prize-giving ceremony.

We've got loads of new information to share with you about Hollyoaks' unmissable episodes, which play out on screen all next week, so here's the biggest spoilers you need to know.

1. The blast is all Mac's fault

We won't need a drawn-out whodunit mystery to figure out who blew up the school – it's Mac who's to blame for the destruction. When the fearsome pub landlord catches Neeta having another secret meeting with her teenage love interest Hunter at Hollyoaks High, he drags her off into the boiler room to confront her.

Mac hits the boiler in an angry outburst, unknowingly loosening a valve and causing a gas leak. With this in mind, it's clearly pretty bad timing for him to then spitefully set fire to a picture that Hunter has lovingly drawn of himself and Neeta.

As the flames hit the gas leaking from the boiler, an earth-shattering explosion tears through the school. If Mac survives, let's hope somebody sends him the repair bill.

2. Luke and Darren are in danger

We're pretty sure future spoilers rule them both out as potential fatalities, but old favourites Luke and Darren will both be in jeopardy as a result of the accident. The explosion hits on Luke's first day as a PE teacher at the school, which is difficult enough anyway as he's haunted by traumatic memories from the past.

Darren catches Luke about to have a drink just as Mac causes the explosion. Darren and Luke are then forced to climb up into an air vent to escape, but their exits get blocked. Poor Luke – talk about the first day from hell!

3. Yasmine is ready to expose the truth

As Mac's epic mistake coincides with a prize-giving ceremony at Hollyoaks High, the school is bustling with teen characters at the time. These include Lily, Peri and Yasmine, who are currently taking centre stage in a controversial self-harm storyline.

When Yasmine vows to expose the truth about the trio's dark secret, Lily and Peri both threaten her to keep quiet. Deciding to ignore their warnings, Yasmine realises she has to tell Sally everything – but the explosion rips through the school before she has a chance to speak up.

4. The danger isn't over for Mac and Neeta

We know that Mac and Neeta survive the initial force of the explosion, as they continue to argue in the aftermath of the blast. Neeta angrily blames Mac for the explosion (to be fair, he can't really argue with that...) and considers leaving him trapped in one of the classrooms.

Later, the floor collapses underneath Neeta and Mac, leaving them fighting for their lives. Will one of them be killed off?

5. Tom and Alfie are in peril too

When emergency services reach the scene, Leela is relieved to have an insider's perspective by communicating with her daughter Peri via video call. This helps her to assist her firefighter colleagues with their rescue attempts.

Sadly, before anyone gets a chance to rescue them, Peri, Lily, Tom and Alfie are all terrified when the floor falls through and they can't get out. Has the curse of Tom struck again?

6. We can also add Sally, Hunter, Jack and Louis to the list of possible deaths

Other sneaky clues about the aftermath of the explosion have revealed that Hunter will be rushing to Sally's rescue – that's certainly one way to earn some brownie points with the headteacher. Can Hunter get them both to safety?

Jack – who's at the school for the prize-giving ceremony – finds himself in danger too alongside Luke and Darren. We also know that Louis Loveday is in the building when it explodes, so don't count him out of the danger zone either.

7. Frankie is oblivious to the danger her family is in

While the Osbornes are in trouble, Frankie is busy catching up with her ex-husband Johnno Dean, who's stepping foot in the village for the first time since his departure in 2005. After so many dramas with Jack, fed-up Frankie is given food for thought as Johnno offers to whisk her away for life on the road as a Cher tribute act.

Torn between her past and her future, Frankie snubs the prize-giving event and gets busy working on her Cher act with Johnno. But will she really be prepared to leave with him? How will she react when she hears about the explosion?

8. There's devastating news for the Maaliks

It sounds as though Yasmine will be rescued from the wreckage of the school, as her family later receive news that she has heart failure.

Yasmine has been on the waiting list for a heart transplant for many months now – and the situation has never been more critical. Will there be an available donor before it's too late?

9. Sienna has a big storyline too

Sienna may not be involved in the stunt this year, but she plays her own role in Hollyoaks' big week when her hostage storyline with Warren comes to a head.

Sienna tries to provide a clue to her ordeal by carving the words "Help me" into the paintwork of Warren's car. When she then goes into labour, Sienna urges Warren to get her to hospital for the C-section she needs. Will Warren cooperate?

10. Someone WILL die

There's not much point in blowing the budget on an explosion if everyone survives, so it's perhaps not a huge surprise that Hollyoaks has confirmed at least one death in the stunt. As for who it'll be, you'll just have to watch.

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy earlier this month, Hollyoaks' executive producer Bryan Kirkwood revealed: "It wouldn't be a Hollyoaks stunt without a bit of a death toll. I think we all agree that it's always a little bit frustrating when there are fireworks like these on screen and the end result is that someone only ends up with a broken fingernail!

"We've got a lot of stories leading up to the stunt, as we always do. One of the biggest stories of the year has been Neeta and Hunter's love affair, which has been really good for us. I think those actors have been extraordinary.

"With mad Mac on the rampage, things look bleak for at least one character."

Hollyoaks' stunt episodes begin this Friday (October 27) at 7pm on E4 and on Monday (October 30) at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
