Yahoo News 100th public defibrillator installed in County Durham for One Life Initiative
The 100th defibrillator as part of a life-saving initiative was installed in County Durham last week.
City of Durham MP Mary Kelly Foy unveiled the community public access defibrillator (CPAD), which was on May 2 installed at Farmhouse Dine & Wine in Parkhill.
The first of its kind, which was installed by Rotary North East as part of its One Life initiative was also unveiled by Ms Foy back in 2020.
The initiative was set up to raise awareness of the importance of CPR, and the impact of early use of a defibrillator and aimed to increase the overall number of accessible defibrillators.
Ms Foy said: "I was delighted to be asked by Rotary North East to unveil the 100th defibrillator installed as part of the One Life Initiative.
"It is a great initiative that I have been proud to support since Rotary North East installed the first Defibrillator in Durham Marketplace in July 2020.
"Speaking to residents I could feel just how proud they are to have this installed and whilst I hope they never have to use it, the difference this defibrillator could make is huge.
"So I am incredibly grateful to Tom and the team at Rotary North East, and all the local community groups that have shown their support for installing this important and potentially lifesaving piece of equipment.
"They will continue to have my support for as long as they need it!"
