Singer Aaron Carter has addressed fans' concerns over his weight by revealing that he's "basically" been living with an eating disorder as a result of a previous medical diagnosis.

Taking to Twitter, Aaron spoke openly about his health and admitted that he's suffering from a "stress eating disorder" following a hernia diagnosis when he was 19 years old.

"By the way y'all wanna know why I'm so skinny?" he wrote. "It's because @ 19 i was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, I didn't choose that. be kind to me..

"It's a terrible stress condition that affects me having an appetite and I'm sorry this is the way I am. Basically I have an eating disorder."

Apologising to his fans, Aaron continued: "I really wish I did look better, or I eat more like y'all say, this life doesn't come w much stability...."

Aaron later went on to confirm that he didn't use drugs but felt "pain". "I still won't give up," he added.

Addressing his fans again, Aaron said: "I will never stop trying to win your hearts back... I might not be exactly where I want to be but I'm doing much better than I was before."

Former child star Aaron – brother of Backstreet Boy singer Nick – had a number of hits in the 2000s, but admitted only last year that he was in "a terrible position" financially.
