Abandoned petrol station could be brought back to life

An abandoned Glasgow petrol station could be given a new life.

A planning application for the reinstatement and refurbishment of the former Kings Park Service Station on Aikenhead Road.

Plans reveal the surrounded by "commercial, recreational, and residential buildings".

The document also detailed that the aim is to "modernise the shop interior, reinstate the car wash and offer better facilities for customers".

This would include the introduction of two jet washes, a self-serve laundrette and better parking arrangements.

Six car parking spaces and two bicycle storage spots are also proposed.

Part of the new building would also be used as a hot food takeaway and "beer cave".

The plan stated: "The aim of the proposal is to open an essential facility and to create an improved convenience retail offer.

"Overall, the store with hot food sales and the additional car valet facilities will bring benefits to the local economy and support commuters to and from the Aikenhead Road area."

Glasgow City Council planning officials are evaluating the bid and a decision is expected on Monday, August 26.
