Manchester City face a quiet summer transfer window when it comes to incomings after securing a fourth consecutive Premier League title last term.

Pep Guardiola's side have dominated English football over the past few years with league and cup success a familiar sight at the Etihad. The 2023/24 campaign ended on a sour note, though, after losing 2-1 to rivals Manchester United in May's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium.

But despite their defeat to Erik ten Hag's side, there is little wrong with Guardiola's team who are likely to enter the 24/25 campaign as favourites for a fifth title in a row. One area which City may look to strengthen, though, is midfield with Crystal Palace and England international Adam Wharton linked.

Wharton possesses the technical ability to excel in a Guardiola team and may be getting some encouragement to join in the England camp at Euro 2024 from Phil Foden and John Stones. Securing a deal for the 20-year-old is likely to be expensive but his potential means it will be money well spent.

Newcastle's Bruno Guimaraes has also been linked but his reported £100million release clause has reportedly expired so the Magpies are in a strong position to keep him. A move next summer for the Brazilian could be the likelier option, depending on Rodri's future.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Ederson and playmaker Bernardo Silva face an uncertain future in East Manchester. The latter was heavily linked with an exit last summer but remained at City where he enjoyed another stellar campaign.

Both players have spent seven seasons at City and may feel like they need a new challenge. Silva has been linked with Bayern Munich whilst Ederson is said to have attracted interest from Saudi Arabia, with Kevin De Bruyne also a target for clubs in the country.

"For Michele, an exotic adventure is OK. These are also conversations that we are increasingly having as a family," De Bruyne said earlier this summer.

"I still have one year of contract, so I have to think about what can happen. "My eldest (child) is now eight years old and knows nothing but England. He also asks how long I will play at City. Once the time comes, we will have to deal with it in a certain way.

"At my age, you have to be open to everything. You talk about unbelievable amounts in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that."
