Some fans still managed to grab a listen of the album though, with Cosmopolitan suggesting that it’s another emotional affair. Listen with wine.

There were also claims that American store Target was selling the album earlier than expected, with one fan seemingly tweeting a photo holding ‘25′.

However, her reps have since denied that this is the case, telling Billboard: “The Target sales are not true.”

A music industry source has told The Sun: “This throws the most carefully planned album campaign in years into crisis.

“Everything had been built up around a massive surprise on Friday, when the album was going to be released in every territory around the world.

“Unlike most big artists these days who release loads of the songs in advance, Adele had only put out Hello which was the first single. She’s got a big Graham Norton TV special on Friday night on the BBC too.

“But what’s going to be most devastating for her is people hearing the songs in an unfinished form online.”

Adele’s new album has been kept as secret as possible, with the singer admitting to only letting manager Jonathan Dickins hear it in full.
