Adverse weather sees cross-Solent hovercraft services cancelled

HIGH winds on The Solent have halted hovercraft flights this morning (Thursday).

Hovertravel services between Ryde and Southsea have been cancelled due to strong winds, with an update expected from the cross-Solent travel provider at 10.45am.

A yellow weather warning from the Isle of Wight Met Service came into force today from 9am, currently running through until 9pm, with gusts of up to 70mph winds expected, with heavy, squally spells of rain.

Tickets will be accepted on Wightlink's Fast Cat service. Please check Hovertravel's disruption contingency plan on its web page for further details.

Wightlink and Red Funnel services are currently running to timetable, but Red Funnel has warned there may be disruption to Red Jet flights until 6pm today.
