The following article contains spoilers for Marvel's Agents of SHIELD season five.

One of the deaths that rocked you like a gut-punch in Marvel's Agents of SHIELD's fifth season finale might not be quite what it seemed.

No, we're not talking about Agent Coulson - for all we know, he's still off in Tahiti enjoying the afterlife. There was another shocking demise in the season finale, when General Glenn Talbot (aka Graviton) literally got blasted into space by Daisy (Chloe Bennet) in one last showdown.

But maybe it wasn't their last showdown! Co-showrunner Jed Whedon is already teasing to Entertainment Weekly that Marvel's Agents of SHIELD fans probably haven't seen the last of Talbot.

"This is Marvel, and even more, it's Agents of SHIELD," he joked. "I know we see him floating in space, but he's Graviton, so you never know… Chances are he might not be super dead."

For you Agent Coulson fans out there, we might not have seen the last of him either. Clark Gregg has hinted that there is "interest" in having him return to SHIELD next year in some capacity too.

"I'm available for whatever they need me to do and we'll just be figuring it out," he admitted. "We just got picked up a few days ago. That's what we'll have to figure out going forward.

"I hope to be involved, maybe I'll be an LMD or maybe I'll be in a C-3P0 suit and I'll be everybody's starchy Brit robot."

At present, the actor is busy filming his big screen comeback in the MCU in Captain Marvel, which reunites him with Samuel L Jackson for an adventure set before the main Marvel timeline.

Agents of SHIELD will return next summer.
