Ahsoka season 2 confirmed and in development

Ahsoka spoilers follow.

Lucasfilm and Disney have confirmed a second season of Star Wars series Ahsoka is now in the works.

As part of an announcement of a Mandalorian movie on Tuesday (January 9), Lucasfilm also announced that producer Dave Filoni is "currently developing" more of Rosario Dawson's show.

Dawson starred in the live-action series as Anakin Skywalker's former Jedi padawan Ahsoka Tano, who led the resistance against the return of The Empire's Grand Admiral Thrawn.

The series also brought back Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker from the prequel movies — and Christensen has told The Dagobah Dispatch podcast he "would love to do more" as Darth Vader.

"I don't know what the future holds, but if such an opportunity presents itself, I'll be there with a big smile on my face," he said.

"If it doesn't, I feel really grateful for getting to come back and do the work that I did, both in Obi-Wan and Ahsoka."

As mentioned, the exciting news of a second season of Ahsoka came on the same day as Lucasfilm confirmed The Mandalorian will be getting its own movie.

The Mandalorian & Grogu will be produced by Filoni and directed by Jon Favreau following Filoni's promotion to chief creative officer of Lucasfilm late last year.

"I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created," Favreau said. "The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting."

The first season of Ahsoka is currently streaming on Disney+. The Mandalorian seasons 1-3 are also streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and the entire Skywalker Saga are available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K now, as well as on Disney+.
