Albion Rrahmani to Rangers transfer hits ANOTHER Neil Lennon roadblock as Celtic hero sends clear signal

Rapid Bucharest boss Neil Lennon appears in no rush to allow key man Albion Rrahmani to leave the club this summer amid interest from Rangers.

The 23-year-old looks set to depart the Romanian side this summer after a successful campaign which has saw the Kosovo international net 17 goals. A move to the Light Blues appeared to be taking a step forward when Rangers director of football recruitment reportedly held talks with the player's agency at TransferRoom's Mexico convention summit earlier this month.

But there has been little movement since then with Philippe Clement's recruitment drive ramping up rapidly - with Connor Barron the fourth signing for the summer so far and Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane set to follow the former Aberdeen man through the door at Ibrox. Rapid president Viorel Moldovan says the club have thrown out a lowball offer for the star - and now former Celtic boss Lennon appears to be focussing on keeping the attacker.

At his first press conference, the Irishman sent a clear message to club bosses over the future of the star when asked about a potential move to the Scottish Premiership side - insisting he didn't want him to go "anywhere." Now he is set to have face-to-face talks with Rrahmani as he welcomes him to training for the first-team.

Rapid's pre-season schedule is already underway in Slovenia - but Rrahmani has yet to join the side having been on international duty with Kosovo while talks over his future escalate. But Lennon expects a link-up before they jet out to Slovenia on Sunday.

Speaking after the pre-season win over Gloria Buzau, he sent a clear signal that he was keen for his main man to be back for the academy talent to learn from. He said: "The young ones did very well.

"There is a lot of talent at the academy. You need young players but also experienced players. We must be patient. Rrahmani will join us tomorrow."

Pressed on transfers, the boss kept his focus on incoming talent - without being drawn on the key man. He went on: "We are looking to transfer for multiple positions. We want a defender. A coach wants every position covered."
