Amanda Holden wore clothes back to front on first day as BGT judge

Before her Britain's Got Talent outfits got hundreds of Ofcom complaints, Amanda Holden had just two days to prepare for her first filming session.

Amanda Holden has become famous — and for some people infamous — as a result of her daring Britain's Got Talent outfits. But she has now admitted that her first ever fashion choice on the show was a bit of a disaster.

The 53-year-old star has been a part of Britain's Got Talent since the very first series in 2007 and told The Sun that she found herself filming in Birmingham just two days after getting the phone call from Simon Cowell. This meant she had little time to ponder her look.

"I had on a pair of jeans and a top — I’m wearing it when Paul Potts appears on stage — and I had it on back to front because I didn’t have a stylist," said Holden.

She added: "I don’t think I would ever wear jeans on Britain’s Got Talent now."

Holden appeared alongside Cowell and third judge Piers Morgan on those first shows and has survived many changes to the Britain's Got Talent line-up in the years since.

She has also survived hundreds of Ofcom complaints surrounding her revealing outfits during recent series. Despite the furore, she has always maintained that she won't tone down her looks.

Things have certainly changed since we first saw Holden on the panel for Potts' audition way back in 2007. But Holden said that, after well over 15 years, she's still never sure she'll be back.

She said: "That call to say ‘you’ve got a job’, it’s still the most amazing day for me, even 30 years into my career. I never know I’m coming back for BGT. We do not have long contracts, we’re contracted yearly and I’ve never expected it."

The star continued: "I do feel very fortunate to be working and that’s the bottom line. And so I make the most of every single minute of my day."

Before BGT, Holden was an actor, best known for her work in shows including Cutting It and Wild at Heart. She was also Olivier-nominated for her work in the 2004 stage version of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Britain's Got Talent returns to screens this week, with Holden once again on the panel. She's now joined by Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and former Strictly Come Dancing stalwart Bruno Tonioli.

The show will be looking far and wide for another winner to match the unique chaos of the high-vis wearing clown Viggo Venn, who won last year.

Britain's Got Talent returns on Saturday April 20 at 7.30pm on ITV1.
