With just 40 days left until her wedding, like many a bride-to-be, Amanda Knox has a long to-do list to get through before the big day.
Ms Knox revealed a unique "something old" in a post on Instagram as she knuckles down to get through the tasks at hand – her old uniform from her time in an Italian prison.
“40 days left until the wedding and 267 tasks left on the wedding To Do list. I've locked myself in the craftroom and I'm wearing my old prison uniform. Literally the very same sweatshirt and sweatpants I lived in in Casa Circondariale Capanne, Perugia.”
The post drew mixed reactions online from both supporters and detractors.
It has been nine years since Ms Knox left prison where she served just under four years after being convicted for the 2007 murder of 21-year-old British student Meredith Kercher.
Ms Knox, then 20 years old and a University of Washington student, was Kercher’s roommate when the two participated in a study abroad programme in Perugia, Italy.
Charged with the murder alongside her then boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, the pair were found not guilty at a second trial.
In 2015, Italy’s highest court definitively declared her innocent and she was allowed to return to the US.
Ms Knox now works as a journalist, reviewer and activist, and met Christopher Robinson, her fiance, at a book launch not long after settling back in the Pacific Northwest.
Both fans of science fiction, the couple were engaged in 2019, with Robinson planting a fake meteorite in their garden, which he had decorated with blue and purple lights.
The couple have planned a space-themed ceremony featuring "extravagant alien food" and an "interactive theatre", and have asked family and friends to donate towards the costs in lieu of a traditional wedding registry.
There is no word yet on what her something new, something borrowed, or something blue will be.
