Macaulay Culkin is one of the stars set to join the “American Horror Story” franchise for its upcoming tenth season.

Series creator Ryan Murphy announced the new and returning cast members via a suitably gloomy video posted to his Instagram, set to the tune of the song “Dead of Night” by Orville Peck. Two mainstays of the series in Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be coming back for this season of the FX show, after missing out on season 9. Last season was the first edition of the series to not feature the duo.

Culkin, who is of course known for his child actor roles in the “Home Alone” franchise, most recently appeared as a guest star on the Hulu comedy series “Dollface.” The “AHS” role will mark his first series regular part in a live-action TV series. His last substantial TV role, other than the Adult Swim stop-motion show “Robot Chicken,” was in the NBC series “Kings.”

Other season 10 cast members will include Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross and Finn Wittrock. No theme, plot or release date for the latest series has yet been revealed.

All of those names have played various starring roles in the show’s previous nine seasons, notably Rabe, who has appeared in six seasons to date, and Bates, who has starred in five seasons so far, including as Satanist group member Miriam Mead in “AHS: Apocalypse.”

American Horror Story” was handed a three-season renewal earlier this year, ensuring it lasts at least through season 13. The most recent installment was subtitled “1984” and took place at a campground that became a murder ground. It ran for nine episodes during the fall of 2019 and averaged 2.85 million total live viewers.
