Amir Khan is going on I'm A Celeb to 'stay out of trouble' following Faryal Makhdoom reconciliation

Amir Khan has seemingly confirmed reports that he is going on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, with the British boxer sparking speculation after he was spotted boarding a flight to Australia at the weekend.

Amir spoke to waiting press upon his arrival in Brisbane airport, claiming that he has come to Oz to “stay out of trouble”.

Speaking to The Sun, 30-year-old Amir said that he was in Australia to train, saying: “I’ll be training while I’m here. I’ll probably go for nice jogs and try to keep out of trouble.”

When asked about his chances of becoming king of the jungle Amir danced around the topic, replying: “I want to fight three times next year. King of the jungle?

“I dunno about that but king of the ring suits me better. I want to fight three times in 2018, starting in February, then again just before Ramadan.”

It was previously reported that Amir is yet to sign a contract with ITV for the reality show, but the fact that he agreed to fly to Oz has left producers “confident” that he is committed.

They added: “ITV have been trying to get him to do the show for years so this is a real coup for them. They think he’ll make great TV.”

Over the summer Amir and his pregnant wife, Faryal Makhdoom, suffered an incredibly high-profile break-up, with Amir taking to social media to accuse the beauty guru of cheating on him with fellow boxer Anthony Joshua – a claim that he later confirmed was false.

Faryal also took to her Twitter page to beg for Amir to give her another chance and although he originally insisted that their marriage was over, the two reconciled last week.

Amir posted a photo of himself embracing Faryal at the weekend, captioning the sweet picture with: “With my 4 month pregnant wife, after sorting out all the issues. Closing the year with a happy ending.”

Faryal also shared a photo of herself with Amir and their three-year-old daughter Lamaisah earlier this week.

Speaking of Amir’s potential I’m A Celeb stint, the insider revealed that producers originally wanted the star to hook-up with some of the attractive single women who are heading into the camp.

They explained: “They had hoped that as a newly-single man there could be a jungle romance with some of the sexy singletons there. But that’s now looking unlikely.

“Meanwhile Amir’s hoping he can use the show as a springboard to help rebuild some of the damaged public perception of him after his marriage split.”

I’m A Celebrity returns to our screens on Sunday night [19 November] and other stars spotted arriving in Australia ahead of the launch include The Saturdays’ Vanessa White, Made In Chelsea’s Georgia Toffolo, actor Jamie Lomas, footie hardman Dennis Wise and YouTuber Jack Maynard.
