Andy Robertson urges Liverpool not to lose ruthless streak as Burnley draw ruins 100% home record

Andy Robertson has urged Liverpool not to lose their ruthless streak after they squandered the lead in a 1-1 draw at home to Burnley on Saturday.

It was the Scot who scored Liverpool's only goal of the game, expertly heading Fabinho's lofted pass past Burnley 'keeper Nick Pope and into the far corner.

A second-half Jay Rodriguez strike cost Liverpool two points, however, with the Reds now needing to win all three of their remaining games to surpass Manchester City's record total of 100 Premier League points in a season.

The draw ended Liverpool's run of 17 consecutive home wins in the Premier League this season, with the Reds uncharacteristically picking up just seven points form the last available 12.

Liverpool have already secured a first League title for 30 years, but Robertson insists his side must regain their unforgiving streak if they are to continue to be successful.

Asked if Liverpool lost a bit of ruthlessness in the draw against Burnley, Robertson told the club's official website: "We did that today, yeah, but that’s the worst thing we can do.

"If we lose our ruthless streak then we don’t become champions. We’ve been ruthless all season - times when people thought we were down and out, like against Villa, we come back and we win.

"When we’re 1-0 up, we go and make it two and three and four, and that’s why we’ve been ahead of the rest so far this season. That’s why the points tally has been so big, because nobody else has been as ruthless as us.

"Today we maybe did lose that a little bit and that’s the worst thing we can do because every chance we need to treat as our last and we need to try and take it because if we’d done that, we could probably have been two or three-nil up at half-time and I think we’d have got all three points with that.

"So, we need to keep going, we need to keep creating the chances and hopefully when it falls to all of us in the next game and the games after then we’ll be more clinical in front of goal."

Robertson also insisted Liverpool's motivation has not dropped since being crowned champions, explaining the players feel a sense of responsibility when wearing the shirt.

"Some people outside have said, ‘Is the desire there?’, but they obviously don’t know these lads or the manager very well because when you put on this badge, when you put on this shirt, it carries a responsibility," he added.

"Yeah, against [Manchester] City we got beat but that can happen to any team and our application wasn’t wrong.

"Our application hasn’t been wrong in any game, we went into every game as if we’ve not been champions; we’ve prepared properly, we’ve played properly."
