What did you miss?

Angela Scanlon has admitted she has been struggling with the nerves on Strictly Come Dancing and has to “embody something else” to deal with it.

The TV presenter is one of the celebs on the latest series of the BBC ballroom content, where she is paired with pro Carlos Gu, and has been turning in decent marks, with the couple’s Viennese Waltz scoring 28 out of 40 at the weekend.

She is also a pro when it comes to television, with programmes like The One Show, Robot Wars and Your Home Made Perfect under her belt.

What, how, and why?

But during an interview on ITV’s Lorraine, Scanlon confessed that she was dealing with butterflies about being on the dancefloor.

“I actually have struggled with my nerves more than I anticipated,” she said.

“I remember initially saying to Carlos, he was like, ‘When you get there and it’s live and you are doing the dance, everything can change a bit’ and I was like, ‘I do live telly babe, don’t need to worry about me, when the red light comes on I’m ready.’

“And honestly that first week we did the Tango and I don’t know…!”

The star, 39, told the show's host Lorraine Kelly that as the weeks are going by she thinks “it has got a little better”.

“But I certainly… I’ve had to kind of, not hide behind a character, but really try and embody something else,” she added.

What did Carlos have to say?

Gu chimed it to say he was nervous before every live show too, despite the fact he is one of the show’s professional dancers.

He told Scanlon and Kelly that it was just “human".

Gu, who joined the show last year, also shared how well he and Scanlon were getting on.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.35pm on BBC One.
