Antonia Gentry felt 'anxious' getting hair done for acting roles

Ginny & Georgia star Antonia Gentry has admitted she often feels "anxious" about getting her hair done for acting roles.

The 25-year-old, who plays Ginny in the Netflix show, admitted to People that she felt "a sense of anxiety" when she first started acting and had to get her hair done every day.

"Without being an actor, it's already hard to find people who you can trust to take care of your curly hair, because there's just not a lot of representation and a lot of education going into how to style and really care for textured hair as opposed to the typical straighter hair patterns," Antonia said.

She continued, "And so when you're an actor and you have different events to go to and also whatever character you're playing; your costume, your hair, your make-up, everything about it is specific to what is required for the character."

Antonia went on to reveal that her hair suffered as a result of people not knowing how to care for it properly.

"I've had my hair break off, I've had my hair thin out, I've had it fried, dyed so many things that came from that lack of expertise and that lack of education on how to do my hair," she told the outlet.

She recalled one instance where a hairstylist sprayed her locks with water and took a curling iron to her soaking wet hair, which started "sizzling".

The star noted that she believes many actors feel they can't speak up about such uncomfortable issues because they fear they will be "labelled as difficult to work with".
