A UKIP politician’s last minute Brexit demonstration outside Downing Street garnered a lacklustre turnout with just four people attending after an hour.

Patrick O’Flynn, an MEP for the east of England, said he had “had enough of this” when he called for a morning picket against the "Government Brexit sell-out" from 10am on Friday.

According to LBC, at one point there were four people with him and the protest was at its smallest when there were just one.

One of the people to join him was UKIP’s former deputy chairwoman Suzanne Evans, who was seen holding a “Vote Leave” umbrella while he held a sign with the same slogan.

Once she had left, just Mr O’Flynn and another woman who was sheltering from the rain under the red and white umbrella were left taking part in the protest.

In his call to action, Mr O’Flynn wrote on Twitter: “I've had enough of this - who is up for a morning picket against the Govt Brexit sell-out outside Downing Street this morning? I will be there from 10am. Please come along.”

He followed this shortly with: “I appreciate my impromptu picket today is very short notice - please come if you can - clearly we Leavers now need some big, set-piece demos. I will be doing my bit to help arrange them.”

Some asked for more details from the MEP, while others said they could not make it, though might have with more notice.

Rachael Venables, of LBC, shared pictures of the protest she posted one photo and wrote: "At one point there were four in Patrick O’Flynn’s protest. Suzanne Evans has now left, leaving this woman to hold the ‘Vote Leave’ umbrella."

Mr O'Flynn was elected a Member of European Parliament in 2014 and unsuccessfuly ran to be an MP in 2015.
