This app will get a trusted handyman to your door

Why would spend your morning refreshing the Glastonbury website, when you can hire someone to do it for you?

An app has come to the UK which has become the world’s ultimate #lazyhack. Airtasker is an online community marketplace, with millions of users worldwide - think of it like gumtree, but instead of buying furniture you are outsourcing the jobs you hate doing.

It’s a forum in which workers can be matched with tasks that have been posted to the platform. These tasks range from professional positions such as plumbing and building work to finding a top photographer for an event, right down to assembling flat-pack furniture, colour coordinating your wardrobe, or even catching a spider. (Yes someone actually posted that job on Airtasker.)

One lucky tasker was flown from Sydney to Paris during Fashion Week - just to buy a pair of sunglasses.

The idea for Airtasker came about in 2011 when our co-founder Tim was moving apartments in Sydney and asked his mate Ivan to help with all of those everyday jobs that needed to be done when moving - like cleaning, packing boxes, moving, assembling IKEA furniture and setting up the wifi router. After helping out with all of these jobs, Ivan turned to Tim and said: “Did you know this is the fourth time I’ve been asked to help someone move apartments? And it’s all because of this truck!”

The global Airtasker community is now made up of more than 2 million people with Taskers on the platform holding more than 1 million verified customer reviews and earning more than a $100 million through the platform each year.
