Ariana Grande has torn a strip off Good Morning Britain’s Piers Morgan, after he accused the band of using nudity and sex to sell records.

Morgan slated the band after they posted a picture of themselves nude but painted with offensive words that have been used to abuse them online.

Little Mix singer Jesy Nelson then stepped up the row by calling him a ‘tw*t’ live in Radio 1, for which Morgan has demanded an apology.

He also accused the band of plagiarising the idea for the photo from country band The Dixie Chicks, who pulled a similar stunt in 2003.

But now US singer Ariana Grande – and, bizarrely, her mum Joan – has stepped in, blasting the presenter.

After Morgan tweeted a snap of the Dixie Chicks magazine cover, and also took a pop at a recent episode of Ellen in which the US host featured a montage of barely clad gentlemen to celebrate International Men’s Day, Joan waded in.

“Honestly what is wrong with you @piersmorgan ? Didn’t your mother ever teach you, if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it! You came for @TheEllenShow yesterday which was disgraceful, she is an angel. @LittleMix today, did you ever hear of paying homage? And..well never mind,” she tweeted.

“Hi Joan, my mother taught me to speak my mind & never be afraid to express honestly held opinion. Ellen’s a hypocrite – and as for Little Mix, I’d just prefer they use their talent to sell records rather than their nudity,” he replied, adding: “As your own daughter does…!”

Ms Grande wasn’t having it.

She then dug up this gem from the archives.

That’s what the kids call a burn, Piers.
