Armed Forces Day: All the road restrictions in place as Aberdeen parade returns

This weekend will see the return of Aberdeen's Armed Forces Day parade, with hundreds expected to line the Granite Mile to pay tribute to servicemen and women of the north-east.

An impressive parade of personnel, veteran associations, reservist, cadet and youth organisations will be accompanied by local pipe bands through the city centre.

The parade is a celebration of the history of the city's armed forces, with the event set to take place on the morning of Saturday, June 29.

Starting along Albyn Place at 11am, the parade will go along Union Street, before turning up Union Terrace and onto Schoolhill, Upperkirkgate and Broad Street.

The Lord Provost of Aberdeen Dr David Cameron will take the salute outside in front of the City’s official flagpole outside Marischal College.

This year's parade is expected to last roughly 30 minutes and will finish at Castlegate, with the route changed due to the ongoing works on Union Street Central.
