Armed forces in El Salvador were responding to reports of a person buried under muddy ground near San Salvador on Friday, June 21, officials said.

Footage released by the Fuerza Armada de El Salvador shows ongoing rescue efforts.

Heavy rains have caused flooding across El Salvador in recent days, leading to hundreds of landslides.

On Friday, local media citing authorities reported that at least 19 people had died in the floods, and thousands had been evacuated.
