Armed police descend on Finsbury Park after teenagers 'spotted carrying guns'

Armed police descended on Finsbury Park on Sunday night after three teenagers were allegedly spotted carrying guns.

Firearms officers joined Hackney police as the dramatic scenes unfolded right outside the busy north London station.

Three boys, two aged 16 and one aged 17, were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences at around 10.30pm. They remained in custody on Monday morning.

Pictures taken by neighbourhood watch group the Shomrim, who alerted the Met to the incident, show police cars and vans blocking off the bustling junction with Seven Sisters Road.

The group posted on Twitter: “Shomrim alerted Police to 3 males with guns in Hackney. All three detained by Firearms Officers & arrested by @MPSHackney in FinsburyPark”

A Met Police spokesman told the Standard: “At approximately 10.30pm on Sunday, 21 May, three males were arrested on suspicion of firearms offences after being stopped outside Finsbury Park station.

“All three males - 16, 17 and 16 - remain in custody.

“Officers from Hackney, supported by firearms officers, dealt with the scene."

Police were continuing their enquiries into the incident on Monday.
