Yahoo News Ashley Graham shows her real skin texture in unfiltered Selfie
Among the sea of filtered faces and Instagram perfection, there's nothing like coming across a bit of realness to break up the flawless feed every once in a while.
And someone who we can always rely on for that is Ashley Graham. The activist, St Tropez brand ambassador and model is never one to to show her life under the guise of a Paris filter. In the past, she's spoken candidly about everything from breastfeeding to stretchmarks, and opened up about her postpartum body in a topless mirror selfie.
And for her latest post, captioned: 'the duality of wo(man)' she's keeping things real once again.
Posting two images side by side, she appears to be wearing make-up, dressed up and posing for the camera in the first; while make-up free and looking somewhat frazzled in the second. Her caption plays on the phrase 'the duality of man', which pertains to the idea of being in two qualities.
In both images, she's showing her real skin texture but the message, it would appear, is more about showing the full picture: we can be glam or make-up free (or both!), but it's important to realise that we are not the first image on a daily basis, nor is anybody else. It is an impossibility to look or feel perfect every day and most of us play on the periphery of both qualities.
Seeing the unfiltered side of celebrity life is both rare and refreshing. Thank you, Ashley, for the reminder this Monday afternoon.
