Yahoo News Asia Argento threatens to sue McGowan over sex claims
Asia Argento has threatened to sue Rose McGowan over claims she made about the former having underage sex.
Argento is one of the most high-profile women to have accused Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, and one of the faces of the #MeToo movement.
Recently she has been accused herself of having sex with actor Jimmy Bennett, who would have been 17 in a state where 18 is the age of consent at the time of the alleged incident.
Argento has denied all accusations, and is now threatening to take action against McGowan, who claimed that the incident did happen.
The X Factor Italy star tweeted yesterday (September 17): "Dear @RoseMcGowan. It is with genuine regret that I am giving you 24 hours to retract and apologise for the horrendous lies made against me in your statement of August 27th.

A day later she followed it up with another tweet, stating: "To @rosemcgowan. The 24hr deadline given to retract your recent false statements about me has now passed.
To @rosemcgowan. The 24hr deadline given to retract your recent false statements about me has now passed. I must inform you & @raindovemodel that I’ve instructed Mishcon de Reya to seek substantial damages for deception, fraud, coercion and libel. You will hear from them shortly.

Rose McGowan has not publicly replied to Argento's tweets.
