Assault outside Sainsbury's store leaves man, 62, with serious facial injuries

A man suffered serious facial injuries after being attacked outside a Sainsbury's store.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or film footage of the teatime assault in Bankfields - which left the victim hospitalised - to come forward. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers are appealing for information, doorbell, dashcam or CCTV footage as an investigation continues into an assault which left a 62-year-old man receiving hospital treatment.

"It happened at around 5.20pm on Saturday, 15 June, outside the Sainsbury’s store on Bankfields Road, Eston when the victim was assaulted by another man and sustained serious facial injuries which were treated in hospital overnight.

"Police believe a number of members of the public were in the area at the time and would ask them, as well as anyone else with information/footage to contact Cleveland Police on the 101 number quoting ref 112273."
