A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a van was driven into a group of people.

Police believe the van was driven into the group, on Market Street in Westhoughton, Bolton, following an earlier "altercation".

Officers were called in the early hours of Saturday morning and arrested a 27-year-old man at the scene.

Det Insp Stuart Woodhead, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “Thankfully no one was seriously hurt during this incident but the outcome could have been very different, hence why we have arrested the suspect on suspicion of attempted murder.
