Attempted murder probe as knifepoint robbery suspects rammed off road in Basildon

An attempted murder probe has been launched after reports two knifepoint robbery suspects were rammed off a road in Basildon.

Essex Police are appealing for information after four men have been arrested following a robbery and incident in Basildon.

Officers were called to Clay Hill Road shortly after 6.35pm on Sunday.

Essex Police say, it had been reported two people had gone into Farm Pizza fast food restaurant armed with a knife.

Before they attempted to leave the area on a motorbike, at which point they were in collision with a car.

One person on the motorbike has sustained potentially serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

He has also been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

Two men from Basildon aged 41 and 33, and a man from Pitsea aged 27, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the collision.

The 41-year-old and 33-year-old have since been released on bail until the 2 July and 4 September respectively.

The 27-year-old remains in custody.

A spokesman for Essex police said: "We are appealing for information and four men have been arrested following a robbery and collision in Basildon.
