Bank holiday Monday opening times for ASDA, Aldi, Tesco, Lidl, M&S, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Waitrose

Monday is the second of May's two bank holidays, giving many people across the UK a three-day weekend.

As with all bank holidays, schools are closed, many people are off work, and shop and supermarket opening times tend to differ slightly. So if you need to pop to the shop for groceries, it can be handy to know when they open and close.

Here are the opening times for Aldi, ASDA, Tesco, Lidl, Morrisons, M&S, Sainsbury's and Waitrose on the bank holiday of Monday, May 27.

Asda

The ECHO understands Asda stores will open over the bank holiday weekend, with normal store hours in place on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26.

Most larger stores will operate as normal from 6am-midnight on Monday, May 27, though shoppers are advised to check their local store using the locator tool on Asda's website.

Tesco

Tesco stores across the UK were open as normal on Saturday and Sunday. On Monday, the ECHO understands that the majority of Tesco larger stores will be open from 8am to 6pm in England and Wales.

In Scotland, this is likely to be 8am-8pm, and 7am – 11.59pm in Northern Ireland. Most Tesco Express stores will also be open from 8am – 6pm.

You can check your local Tesco opening hours here. You can also find out when Tesco petrol filling stations are open, as these vary from store to store.

Aldi

Aldi said its stores would open 8am-10pm on Saturday, May 25, and 10am-4pm on Sunday, May 26.

On Monday, May 27, the majority of Aldi stores will be open between 8am and 8pm, however Aldi added that "times may vary" and advises people to check their local store's opening times on its website.

Sainsbury's

Sainsbury's said the "vast majority" of its supermarkets will be open from 8am-8pm on Monday, May 27, while convenience stores will open as usual from 7am to 11pm.

However, some opening hours may vary so customers are advised to check using the store locator on the Sainsbury's website.

Morrisons

The ECHO understands most Morrisons stores will open from 7am to 8pm on Monday, May 27, however it is worth checking with your local stores.

Times also varied on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and May 26. For example, the Speke store will open 6am-10pm and 11am-5pm on these days respectively, while the Maghull store will be open from 7am-10pm and 10am-4pm on these dates.

M&S

Marks and Spencer stores' opening times will vary on Monday, May 27, though the Liverpool ONE store will be open from 9am – 8pm. Shoppers wishing to visit other stores are advised to check on the Marks and Spencer website.

Waitrose

Waitrose said most of its stores will open normal trade hours on Monday, May 27, though some Little Waitrose shops will open from 7am-10pm. A spokesperson added: "Before visiting our shops, we encourage customers to check the opening times of their local branch online.

"Our delivery service will proceed as normal for Waitrose.com."

Stores were open as normal on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26.

Lidl

The ECHO understands most Lidl stores will open 8am-8pm on bank holiday Monday, but customers should check with their local stores for specific times.
